Warhammer 40,000: Darktide = Destiny 2?

I just realized that Warhammer 40,000 - Darktide scratches an itch that I’ve been having since I’ve stopped playing Destiny 2. Stop me if you’ve heard this before, you have multiple characters that you need to level up, you log in to check the daily/weekly bounty board, you play a mission or two with randoms to gain more levels or hope for a weapon drop that will let you tackle harder difficulties. For me, playing Darktide alone isn’t a game that I want to spend hours on because of the random players you get in the public matches. So outside of the squad gameplay with my friends, it serves this slow dopamine drip of grind and loot drop that Destiny 2 used to occupy.

The Game You Love? Sucks

I read a social media posts dunking on Maximillian Dood for his love of Final Fantasy VII on the original Sony PlayStation. The poster tried to make a show by listing out the flaws of the original PlayStation game and how they made the game worse in comparison to modern day titles that have more complex mechanics. Do I believe that older games are exempted from criticism? No, definitely not. I just feel that a lot of times, these well-intentioned criticisms of a game come from expectation not living up to reality. For e.g., a few of the criticisms leveled at the game is that the open world is sparse or that you could potentially break the game by getting Midgar Zolom Enemy Skill Beta early.
